3D CAD Solid Modeling

Whether you need a single part, several different parts, or a group of parts that need to come together as a completed assembly, we can take your ideas and turn them into 3D solid models.   If you know what you want, but aren’t exactly sure of all the particular details, no problem. Send us whatever you know about your idea, with either a drawing, hand sketch, picture, or just a paragraph describing the parts, and we will ask the right questions to “fill in the blanks”, and help turn your idea into fully defined 3D solid models.

For every part or assembly in your project, you will receive the following:

  • 3D CAD files (.stp, .stl, .iges, etc.), to use however you choose.
  • 2D images files of your parts (.jpg, .bmp, .tiff, .pdf, etc.)
  • Interactive 3D .pdf file.

In this format, with simple mouse clicks, you have the ability to view your parts in full 3D mode. No software installation is required on your computer. These are self-contained 3D files that let you spin the parts to view from any angle, measure distances, make parts transparent, look at section cuts, change viewing options, and much more. This 3D experience lets you examine your parts in detail to see exactly what they look like from every aspect. To try an example 3D .pdf file, click this link.

During the development of your project, you will be sent 2D image files, and 3D .pdf files along the way, so that you can examine your parts to see how they are progressing. As with any design process, when you see your parts come to life, you will want to make changes here and there. That’s normal with any custom design. Not until you have reviewed and are fully satisfied with your parts will your project be completed.

These data files can be used in a variety of ways, depending on the goals of your project. Have your 3D parts built from metal, wood, or plastic. Use the 2D or 3D images to enhance your own website, or Facebook page. It’s up to you. However, if there is additional data or information you need from your parts, or if you need help having your 3D parts fabricated into real life parts, we can assist with that too.
